Strangford B v Banbridge A

                                                      Strangford B and Banbridge A

Strangford won by 10 points

Strangford B didn’t expect to win this encounter against such formidable opposition but home skipper Peter Madine had chosen his team carefully for this match and it proved a winning combination. But even with a cushion of 140 point advantage it was still a formidable task against more experience opponents. Peter Madine in the opening encounter did well to restrict Geoff Smith to a 18 point winning margin. Rory Mc Swiggan who has been in good form recently also impressed restricting Vignesh to a 15 points advantage and Michael Deery in his match with Vignesh also did well to gain 10 points. After the first round Strangford had done enough to stay within the total per match total to get over the line. But it was still a long way to go  and the trio knew that every point was needed to reach their objective. The remainder of games were equally contested but as the match reached its climax the point’s totals were being closely monitored by both teams. The last match was crucial when Michael Deery supported by the home supports dug deep and his 15 point total against Ala proved sufficient to see his team home and book an unexpected place in the knockout combination. Well done Strangford C on a great team performance.
