Strangford 7 Banbridge 3. Strangford knew that if they could get something from this match then it would be a step closer to the League title. They came into this match with an unbeaten record so all to play for. Banbridge got off to a good start when Brian Morrow got home in 4 sets against Colin McKinty, followed by Vignesh M who came from 2 sets down to get over the line 13-11 in the 5th against John McCusker. Joe McConville pulled one back with his straight set win over Ala AL J. Brian made it 2 all in his match with John Mc Cusker before Strangford moved ahead wining the doubles and Mc Conville’s win over Vignesh in 4 games made it 4 but Varnish’s win over Colin left the crucial game between Morrow and Mc Conville crucial for both teams. Brain started well winning the first game 11.5 next 2 games two sets were shared both players knew each other from numerous previous encounters and it was nip and tuck throughout before Joe with careful ball placement was able to bring his renowned forehand kill into play and enabled him to get home in 5 sets. Mc Conville victory was the inspiration Strangford needed with Mc Cusker and Mc Kinty winning the last two games to ensure victory and probably the League title. Great night of table tennis from both teams.
