Pat Mulholland got Owenbeg off to a good start with straight game win over Colin Mc Kinty Hugh Scott made it two in a close encounter coming from two games down only to pip Marty Tranior at the post 12 10 in a nip and tuck 5th game before Joe Mc Conville pulled one back with his 3 love win over Jason Gill. Owenbeg made 3-1 winning the doubles contest in what was a vital match for both teams the McConville and Mulholland is usually a close affair but the former Individual champion on his own turf is still a formidable opponent and got home in straight games and went on to square in his next match with a Hugh Scott who let a 2 game lead slip before losing 11-7 in the 5th. Colin Mc Kinty pulled Strangford ahead with a 3-love win over an improving Jason Gill before Pat Mulholland squared the match with his 4 -1 win over Marty Trainer. The next two games were crucial for both team but an excellent win by Mc Kinty over Scott and Tranior over Gill ensured both points for the home side.
